All vehicles must now have a FASTag, which became mandated in December. If your car has not registered with a Fastag app, toll gates around the country will charge you double the standard cost.
What exactly are FASTags?
FASTag is a gadget that makes toll payments using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology as the vehicle passes through the toll plaza. The FASTag (RFID Tag) is fit to the windscreen of the automobile. It allows customers to pay tolls through these IDs directly from their FASTag-linked account.
The FASTag would provide the comfort of cashless payment with advantages such as saving energy. Time would not be wasted as you would not be required to stop at the toll plaza.
FASTag can be purchased and renewed by banks and mobile wallets. It is also possible to recharge a FASTag with BHIM UPI
How to get a FASTag Activated:
FASTags are available from 22 accredited banks through several channels, including POS at National Highway threat locations and handpicked bank services. They can also be Amazon-style manufacturing one-stop shops.
Here is how you can use UPI apps to recharge your FASTag:
- If you have an Android phone, go to Google Play and download the BHIM UPI app. If you have an iPhone, you can get it through the App Store. You can do it through any money transfer app.
- Using the Passcode, open your BHIM UPI mobile recharge app and select Send the first tab on the BHIM UPI home screen. Enter your FASTags UPI virtual address in the Send Money option. To continue, choose to Send to Self from the drop-down menu.
- Type in the amount you would like to recharge your FASTag for with the use of a payments wallet app. The account number’s last four digits will be shown below the screen where the money will be deducted.
- After you enter the amount, click, proceed and enter the Passcode once more. You will receive a confirmation SMS on your cell phone after your account recharges. You can also utilize different bank accounts to instantly recharge your FASTag using the BHIM UPI app.
If you live within a 10-kilometre radius of the toll plaza, you can get a toll concession paid through your FASTag, according to the IHMCL website. In this situation, you must present the relevant documentation to the bank, including evidence of domicile and proof of range to check that your residential address is within 10 kilometres.
